I visited the NW Quilting Expo in Portland, Oregon this weekend and got to visit with Michelle, owner of Busy Bee Quilt Designs in West Linn, OR. She had this very cute hostess apron she created on display. The pattern is called ‘ Amelie’.

If you follow many sewing blogs online, you’ve probably come across Maureen Cracknell Handmade, Maureen’s online creative journal. She’s full of great project ideas and includes well-written tutorials for nearly everything she makes. She involved with a variety of events and groups, including the current Craft Hope Project–Aprons for Haiti. She recently shared this tutorial for using four fat quarters to sew an apron.

Sometime it isn’t about the ruffles or the appliques, but just a good ol’ sturdy apron to keep the mess off you. That’s what these chef aprons are for. But really, you can do all sorts of things to make them more interesting.

J. Caroline Creative offers up this tutorial to make one, but they also offer a variety of ribbons and trim to use with it.
